Among the facilities I handle while working, the most important are sewage facilities such as sewer pipes and sedimentation tanks. However, the main facilities I am directly responsible for are various electrical installations such as odor control systems (spray type, tank type), amp systems, messaging systems, road water level gauges, sewage level gauges, rainfall gauges, and others. Among them, I want to review the installation construction of road water level gauges, which I personally commissioned, managed the construction, and oversaw the operation.

  1. Ordering Process

In broad strokes, the process of ordering involves developing a business plan, contracting with vendors, and then initiating the project. Depending on the scale, there may be a specific product selection assessment before the contract, and decisions need to be made regarding installation locations, methods, etc., along with reviewing the design specifications.

  2. Implementation of Construction

When determining the installation location for such devices, it's essential to ensure easy access to electricity from the surroundings and to ensure that the installation does not disrupt pedestrian or vehicular traffic. Therefore, coordination with multiple departments is necessary, and it often involves a rigorous process of informing and obtaining approval through official correspondence to ensure alignment and compliance. However, since this construction was relatively minor, the coordination process proceeded smoothly without any issues

  3. Completion and Utilization

During the completion phase, any deviations from the original plan prompt discussions for design alterations. Following any necessary design changes, if the construction is completed satisfactorily, settling the project expenses marks the conclusion of all contracts.
 


The installed road water level gauges are devices designed to measure the level of surface water during the rainy season, providing real-time data. Beneath the gauge, there is a small aperture through which water enters; upon detection, the gauge transmits the water level data indicating how many meters the water has risen.
The installation of this facility in low-lying areas of Seoul is expected to help minimize flood damage by providing real-time monitoring of water levels.
